A limited number of $275 scholarships are available to city employees to attend the STRATUM Tree Academy Workshop and the 2008 Texas Tree Conference in College Station.

To apply, please send an email to John Giedraitis at jpg@tfs.tamu.edu with your name, title, the city that you work for, your municipal tree management responsibilities and if you would attend if you didn't receive a scholarship. You will promptly receive an email response.
You must apply by the Conference early registration deadline of September 12, 2008.

Spend a day with inventory specialist Eric Kuehler, Technology Transfer Specialist, USDA Forest Service, Southern Research Station. A fascinating session that is a “must attend” for city tree managers who want to grow in their job. STRATUM is a computer application that uses tree inventory data to quantify the structure, function, value and management needs of any street tree resource.

 Introduction to STRATUM
 How to set up, install and collect data
 How to set local cost, benefits and pricing
 Generating reports
 The science behind STRATUM
 Data collection methods and projects
 GPS/GIS

2008 Texas Tree Conference "Trees for the Future"
Thursday and Friday, September 25-26, 2008

Hear from national, state and local experts on the latest research on tree ordinances, inventories and master plans, public relations and communications. You will also hear from "The Best In Texas" - case studies presented by your peers from other Texas cities. You are also invited to attend a free municipal tree managers networking breakfast.
