Guidelines for Awarding Arboricultural Research Funds

 Guidelines:

1.    ISAT will accept grant requests that supplement existing funded projects and grant requests that propose new unfunded projects.

2.    ISAT will give priority to requests that supplement projects that have already been funded by other groups. 

3.    ISAT will match up to $5,000 for research grants. However, requests exceeding this amount will be considered based on the project proposal and availability of funds.

4.    ISAT will only fund direct costs (no indirect or overhead).

5.    ISAT will fund only in-state researchers.

6.    ISAT will give priority to projects that have state-wide scope.

How To Apply:

Applications may be submitted at any time. If the request is to supplement an existing grant, researchers must submit their complete approved project application with a one-page narrative specific to the ISAT funding. If the request is for a new unfunded project, a narrative not to exceed two-pages is required. The narrative should state the amount requested and summarize the project and its objectives. It should include details on how it is state-wide in scope and in accord with the mission of the ISAT. It should also outline how the products of the research can be duplicated and utilized in other areas of the state. ISAT will give funding preference to practical or field-test research projects for funding.

Researchers will send their application for funding to the Chair of the ISAT Research Fund Committee who, with the committee, will review the proposal. If approved, the Chair will forward it to the President with the recommendation for approval and for the amount of funding.

The President will conduct a vote of ISAT board members. Funding is approved by a majority vote of the Board.
