The Texas Tree Climbing Championship
(TTCC)
April 4-5, 2008
Come to Fort Worth and see if you have
what it takes to be the next Texas Tree Climbing Champion and
represent the Texas Chapter at the International Tree Climbing
Championship in St. Louis this July. Alongside
this year’s competition will be an advanced climbing techniques workshop and
information on the
ISA Tree Worker Certification.

The five TTCC events are:
Work climb:
Contestants climb to five stations in a tree, performing a
different task at each station.
Aerial Rescue: Contestants reach and safely lower
an injured climber (actually a life-sized mannequin)
Throwline: Tests contestants' agility to
accurately place lines about 50 feet up in a tree.
Belayed speed climb: Contestants ascend a
predetermined route from ground to about 50 feet.
Secured footlock: Measures climber's ability to
perform 40-foot vertical ascent using double-climbing line

Pre-Competition - Advanced Climbing Techniques and How to
Become a Certified Tree Worker. Start time is 9 AM
The
workshop will provide information on how to become an
ISA Certified Tree Worker (CTW) and advanced climbing
techniques. Tom Dunlap will instruct on single rope
technique. Topics will include how to apply for Tree
Worker Certification, necessary training and testing
information. The climbing techniques will be geared
toward day to day climbing, details for passing the CTW
climbing test and tips to help
you compete in the Tree Climbing Championships.

2008 Texas Tree Climbing Championship Participant Schedule
This is a 2-day event
with all five preliminary events starting on
Friday. Six climbers per group will rotate through events and
groups
will be pre-drawn; each group will draw numbers for starting
order. Climber rotation will change with each event.
